This Refunds & Returns Policy applies to all purchases made through nstech.co.nz.

Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA) – Your Rights in New Zealand

If you are purchasing as a consumer (for personal use), you are covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA).

Under the CGA, products must be:

  • of acceptable quality
  • fit for purpose
  • match their description
  • supplied within a reasonable time (if delivery applies)

If a product has a fault, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund, depending on whether the fault is minor or major.

Change of Mind Returns (Non-Faulty Items)

We may accept returns for change of mind at our discretion.

Conditions for change-of-mind returns:

To be eligible, the item must be:

  • returned within 7 days of delivery/purchase
  • unused, unopened and in resalable condition
  • in original packaging with all accessories, manuals, and parts
  • accompanied by proof of purchase (invoice/order confirmation)

Change-of-mind returns are not accepted for:

  • software, licence keys, activation codes, antivirus subscriptions
  • opened consumables (ink, toner, labels, cartridges)
  • special order items / non-stock items
  • clearance or sale items (unless faulty)
  • items damaged due to misuse, liquid damage, power surge, or physical impact

If approved, change-of-mind returns may be issued as:

  • store credit, or
  • exchange, or
  • refund (less any restocking/shipping costs)

Faulty or Damaged Items (DOA / Incorrect Item)

If your item arrives:

  • faulty (dead on arrival), or
  • damaged during shipping, or
  • incorrect / missing parts

Please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with:

  • your order number
  • photos/videos showing the problem
  • packaging condition and shipping label (if damaged)

We will arrange a suitable resolution including:

  • replacement
  • repair
  • refund (if applicable)

Warranty & Manufacturer Support

Many of our products include a manufacturer warranty.

Depending on the product type and issue, warranty claims may involve:

  • troubleshooting support
  • return-to-base service
  • repair assessment by the supplier or manufacturer

If a fault is confirmed, we will provide the appropriate remedy under the CGA and/or warranty terms.

Assessment & Testing

For some products, we may need to inspect and test the item.

If the product is confirmed faulty, there is no assessment fee.
If no fault is found, or the problem is caused by:

  • incorrect use
  • physical damage
  • liquid damage
  • unsupported modification
  • software issues not related to hardware
then a diagnostic/service fee may apply, and return shipping may be charged.

Repairs, Services, Custom Builds & Labour

For services such as:

  • device repairs
  • data transfer
  • diagnostics
  • custom PC builds
  • remote support

Labour and service fees may not be refundable once work has started or completed, unless required by New Zealand law.

If parts supplied for a repair are faulty, we will repair/replace those parts in line with CGA and warranty coverage.

Refund Method

If your return is approved for a refund:

  • refunds are processed back to the original payment method
  • processing times may take 3–10 business days, depending on your bank/provider

Shipping charges are generally non-refundable, except where required under the CGA (e.g., faulty product).

Return Shipping

If the item is faulty:

We will cover reasonable return shipping costs (or provide instructions).

If it’s a change of mind:

The customer is responsible for return shipping.

We recommend using a tracked courier service. NSTECH is not responsible for lost returns.

  • supplier/manufacturer warranty terms, and
  • our standard business term
